Leaving Pike County with an Enduring Legacy…

In July of 2008, Health and Wellness Foundation of Pike County lost its founding Chairman John Teuscher, who served in that capacity since the Foundation’s inception in 2003. John’s foresight and tenacity made the dream of establishing an organization to serve the burgeoning health needs of Pike County a reality.  He knew and acted on the insight that not all families in Pike County have their basic health needs met; at-risk populations in Pike county need special attention; and the mental and emotional health of Pike county was sometimes misunderstood, although essential to one’s overall quality of life. Established in fall of 2005, the HWFPC Health Occupation Scholarship was created to financially assist graduating Pike County seniors who were pursuing degrees in health-related professions. To honor John and to commemorate his legacy of commitment to the health and well being of those living in Pike County, HWFPC’s scholarship program will henceforth be know as the John S. Teuscher Health Occupation Scholarship Program.
